Home Resources How We Did It Robert Goddard

Robert Goddard

Robert Goddard "It is important not to be disheartened."

  • "The oft-proclaimed idea that the writing world is in stasis and won’t let anyone else in is ridiculous. As is the idea that you need some high-paid job to bring in the money as you write in your spare time. Writing was the only thing I could do. No other jobs had worked, so it was clear what I had to be.
  • I do not believe it essential for first time writers to have an agent. I got my first book published by networking with publishers, and only then did the agents take interest and then I got offers from several at once."

Professional Advice

The writer has to ask several questions, including: what voice do I use? Who’s listening to me? How can I engage that person?
