"I don’t have a set writing routine – I’m really chaotic. I’m also a night person, so nothing happens until at least noon. It’s actually the joy of my self-employed life: I don’t have to commute; I don’t have to be anywhere.""I have a desk, a computer, whole ergonomically correct set up. I only write by hand if I’m on a train. One thing I especially like and that I would recommend is writers’ colonies. I go regularly to one named Ragdale, near Chicago, and Yaddo which is in upstate New York. They’re fantastic because you don’t have to cook, you don’t have to grocery shop, you don’t have to live your regular life, you just work. Probably about half of The Time Traveler’s Wife was written at writers’ colonies."
