"I spend much of my time writing in a large garden shed (classical music – no vocals – in the background)."
I write from 7 or 8am in the morning until 1 or 2pm, then take a three hour break before writing again until 8pm. Sixty to seventy per cent of writers say early morning is the best time to work. If I write less than 600 words in a day that’s bad; more than 1,000 is good. If I'm working on a book I spend the first hour editing the previous day’s work. I’m constantly going back on my work; people say writing really is re-writing."
