Home Courses Writing Basics Critiquing your Work

Critiquing your Work

... writing prose is not a process of magical inspiration so much as fanatical polishing. Hemingway wrote 63 versions of the final chapter of Farewell to Arms and it’s one of the most perfect endings of any book I know…
William Dalrymple, historian and travel writer

So you've finished a piece of writing – what next? Reviewing, rewriting and critiquing your work is arguably the most important part of the writing process.

This online course features a lecture on constructive ways to critique your work. It also discusses the art of giving feedback to others – and the dos and don'ts of reviewing your peers online.

There are three practical exercises to help you cross-examine your structure and use of language, plus exclusive articles and quotes on the subject from practising writers, as well as useful links and a self-assessment form.

You can take this online mini course for £25, which includes access to our Members' Room.

Once you've received your confirmation email you'll need to Register, choose the Members' Room option and enter the password in your email. You will then be able to access the online course materials.

If you've already registered, once you've logged in you can enter your Members' Room password to join.
